Biography

Sophie Scamps ( SKOMPS; born 15 March 1971) is an Australian independent politician, general practitioner, and former athlete. In the 2022 Australian federal election, she was elected as the Member for Mackellar in the Australian House of Representatives as a teal independent candidate. Scamps was born in New South Wales, and spent her early career competing in running at an Olympic standard. She completed her higher education at the University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, and University of Oxford. In 2020, Scamps became involved in politics, co-founding the "Voices of Mackellar" group, and was chosen as the independent candidate for Mackellar. At the 2022 federal election, she…
